If you're already an artist and know how to paint, the best advice I can give you is to try to ignore the fear. The fear of slapping brightly colored paint on someone's nice, clean walls. It can be really scary, but if you truly are a good artist there's really nothing to fear. Just do what you did before, but... BIG. I have had no formal training on painting murals. I just took a pencil and a brush and started doing it. It's nice if you have a church that you attend or somewhere you can donate free work to at first to build up a portfolio. My church gave me pretty much free reign in the nurseries and youth room. I was able to let my creative juices just pour out. It was really fun.
