Born and raised in Oklahoma, Scarlett Pruett is a stay-at-home mother of two and is the wife of Edmond Police officer, Jonathan Pruett. She and her family enjoy feeding their love of animals together by sharing their property with many pets, the majority of which are beautiful Japanese, American Butterfly and German Scaled Koi. Sharing the pond with the majestic koi are also a few "peanut-brained" goldfish. The remaining pets are a beloved and unusually skinny, Great Dane named Izzy and three newly obtained Indian Runner Ducks, Fern, Clover and Mr.Ming. Aside from her artistic endeavors, she also enjoys the endless hours spent improving her vegetable, water and flower gardens.
Scarlett started expressing herself artistically at a very early age. By the age of nine, she started taking painting seriously when she received her first palette, easel, and acrylic tube paints. At the age of 13, she sold her first painting to her eighth grade advanced art teacher, Jan Wyrick, while attending Independence Middle School in Yukon, Oklahoma. Wyrick voiced a prediction that day that in the future, Scarlett would one day become a very talented artist. Encouraged by the powerful words and the $20 purchase, Scarlett has continued taking advantage of every opportunity to create to this very day.
The Monkey Business Murals logo was inspired by Emma Pruett, Jonathan and Scarlett's 4 year old daughter. At the age of two, Emma had a slight obsession with monkeys. Even going so far as to label her newborn brother, Jonathan, a "mon-gey" the day he was brought home from the hospital. Countless times, Emma requested for her mother to draw monkeys for her. Sitting in church, trying to keep the two year old quiet, Scarlett would draw monkeys looking at each other with dumbfounded and clueless expressions on their faces. It always kept Emma happy, quiet and entertained. When it came time to come up with a business name and design the logo, it had to be a doodling monkey just doing what he does best.
Even though she is content with her life, everyone has their hopes and dreams. Scarlett's include the 2-3 acre homestead with a modest house, an enormous vegetable garden, a barn, and one of each kind of farm animal. She also dreams of an art studio to someday call her own and precious time to paint... purely for the joy that comes from painting.
