Frequently asked questions:
Q: What do I do first?
A: Well, if you haven't already, be sure to check out my photo galleries (here) and make sure that you like my style of painting. I can paint many different styles and I have a good variety for you to view in my portfolio, but please, shop around! Remember that every artist uses a different technique. I want EVERY customer to be content with their artwork... nay, overjoyed! So be sure and go with who and what you like.
Q: What do I do after that?
A: Cut out magazine clippings of what you want, draw a sketch, gather paint color samples, or take pictures of what you would like to see in your artwork. Then set up an appointment ($25 deposit paid at the first visit) and tell me your ideas. I'll take them home with me and email you some sketches. If you like what you see, your deposit will go towards the final price of the project. If not, then I haven't traveled and worked on your project for nothing.
Q: How do you do it?
A: This is a tough question, but I'll do my best....After a consultation, and decision is made on what to paint, I simply draw the chosen sketch onto the wall. I do not use a projector unless a client wishes something to be exact. At this point, any major changes can still be made. I then confirm that the client is pleased before moving on to paint. As far as how I paint, there are just too many variables to list.
Q: How much is this going to cost me?
A: Small wall art, depending on the detail desired and the surface being painted on, can range from $40 to $125.
All other wall murals vary greatly as well, depending on size, surface and detail. They can range anywhere from $300 to $8000. It is impossible to pinpoint an exact amount without a consultation and even after a consultation and quote, if the client desires changes to be made, that can alter the final cost. Viewing my online portfolio can help. There, you can see how much I would charge for the examples shown.
Q: How far away are you willing to travel?
A: It depends on how long the project is going to take, and where exactly you're talking about. Just keep in mind, I'm a stay-at-home mom with two very small childrean. Leaving home for days on end is hard on my family. However, everyone has a price, don't they! Lodging and transportation, if necessary, are paid separately in addition to the final cost of your mural.
Q: What about paint. Do I have to pay for it?
A: Yes. However, I'm a pretty cheap person myself, so I try to help you out in any way that I can. I have a few cans of paint that have been donated to me from previous jobs which I use to help lower the cost of your mural. Any paint I have to purchase additionally is worked into the total cost of the mural. If you feel the urge to help me to lower my prices, donate your leftover paint! Then you won't have to worry about trying to find a place to store it (most murals use several different colors of paint). If you're worried about touchups from bumps on the wall, pour a little of the main colors into a few Ziploc storage containers. It keeps the paint fresh forever, and doesn't take up as much space as a bulky paint can.
Q: When are payments due?
A: Your $25 deposit is due at my first visit or consultation. Larger murals $400 and up are broken up into two payments. For example, you would pay $200 at the end of the first day of painting (unless the mural is completed and the entire $400 is due then) and the final $175 ($200 minus the $25 deposit) at the completion of the mural.
This process is necessary in order for me to have funds to purchase supplies.
Q: What if I don't like it?
A: Don't worry, you will love it. I won't paint unless I'm sure that what I'm putting on your wall is exactly what you have in mind. I never move forward unless I have YOUR approval. Remember still, it's just paint. Paintings can always be tweaked. And then someday, if styles change, covering it up is as easy as a fresh coat of paint!
Q: Do you paint anything other than murals?
A: YES! I love painting all sorts of things. From furniture to book illustrations to ACEO art cards to kids faces! You name it, and I can probably paint it. All you gotta do is ask!
